History Tour  

Our History Tour takes in the the sights and scenes of every-day life for people living on Lombok, giving guests a true insight into the day to day lives of the local people, their history and the amazing mix of religious beliefs.  Visiting several local historically important sites, guests can walk through the history of Lombok. This tour also takes in the local produce markets which are a “must see”.
Around 10km east of Cakranegara in Narmada, this temple was constructed around 1805 as a replica of Gunug Rinjani and Segara Anak, the lake held within the the peaks of Lombok’s Mount Rinjani volcano.  The gardens are beautifully maintained and are surrounded by pools and a lake.

A complex of 3 temples located a few kilometres north of Narmada, is the oldest and holiest of the Balinese temples found on Lombok -  Dating to the 16th century, underground streams bubble up into restored baths. Huge sacred eels live in the pools and streams and can be encouraged out with offerings of boiled eggs which are available from nearby stalls.  Seeing a sacred eel is considered to be very lucky!
Pura Lingsar is possibly the only place in the world where Hindus and Muslims come together to pray and celebrate.  Built around 1714, Pura Lingsar was originally based on the prevailing animist beliefs of the time, and statues representing these beliefs survive to this day in the temple and its grounds.
